My 2nd day in Uganda

10/25/08 2:12 AM pacific time (12:12PM in Uganda) Hey, Ok so It is my second day here in Uganda. I just woke up and am excited about my day. Its Saturday so I will get to meet the kids today. Also I am hoping I will be able to go around and take some pictures. I didn’t do much on my first day…but sleep and then I went to the internet cafe to let my family know I got here called my mom first, Saeed and then my cousin Dall Baby. It was cool talking to everyone. I kinda got over the airline leaving my luggage in London but not really …..I wish I had my stuff with me:-( They say my luggage will be delivered to the house on Oct 29th…I hope so I can’t be wearing the same pants forever. OK BRB tiffany wants to go get something to eat at the store up the street. Me and Tiffany went up the street to buy a rolex— Its eggs, cabbage and tomatoe cooked and rolled in this type of bread similar to the shape of a tortilla or pita bread. I tried some on the first day that I came…I don’t really eat eggs so I didn’t buy one today….I will probably have to eat them anyways during my stay here in Uganda. I really wasn’t feeling eating eggs yesterday after I was on the plane and all they served was eggs and bacon and then ham and cheese sandwiches on my flight from New Jersey to London. I don’t think I am a real picky eater but I guess I am. There are certain foods I just won’t eat: bananas, eggs, mayo, and pork. I just got a soda and a newspaper its cost 1800 shillings…which Tiffany says is equal to about one US dollar. Surprisingly are dollar here has gone up in value, which is interesting considering the current economic crisis currently occurring in the States. Yesterday when we went to the internet cafe we road a Bodaz its like a motorcycle bike. I was scared at first holding on to the driver..but then I was ok. I was on with Tiffany I’m not sure if I want to go on by myself yet. There were some close calls when I thought I was going to ended in the hospital! but everything was fine. They have a really big mosque in between the house and where the internet is at. I am looking forward to going there….but I heard I need to cover from head to toe when I go….so I will see what clothing I have in my luggage when it gets here. It would have been cool to be here during Ramadan this year. I was looking forward to fasting in Uganda..but maybe next year. Today I was awakened by the rooster like a million times but I didn’t get up until later. Its only the second day I haven’t done much yet…haven’t seen the kids yet but I am enjoying my stay so far. Some times I feel like I am an outsider which I am ….I don’t like feeling that way but I am sure that will change within a couple of days.
